FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION

  • Where do the music lessons take place?
Right in your home! We offer in-person and virtual lessons so your child can learn music from an experienced teacher without having to leave the house and commute to a studio.
  • Which instruments do you teach?
We offer lessons in piano, guitar, and bass from experienced music teachers.
  • What are your teaching methods?
We use the Faber method books as our primary foundational written material and proven, modern music pedagogies. Zoe Blake has a degree in Professional Music Education from Berklee College of Music and personally trains all teachers to ensure an effective learning experience. Our goal is that our students are confident to practice and learn on their own. We help build this confidence through additional ear-training practice, sight-reading, and building thoughtful technique. We know that each child is unique and has different needs. So, we’re flexible! We adapt our lessons to fit your child’s age, personality, and interests. If they want to compose a song about your dog, that’s cool with us.
  • How do the recitals work?
We put on two recitals each year – one in winter and one at the end of the school year in June. These are a fabulous opportunity for your child to put their music skills to practice in front of a supportive crowd of fellow students and families.
  • How do virtual music lessons work?
The same as our in-person except on Zoom. Virtual lessons are a highly effective way to have lessons! We can accomplish nearly everything in a virtual lesson that you can accomplish in an in-person lesson. You will need a laptop or tablet, headphones, provided materials, and your instrument. Your teacher or Zoë will help you with set up during the first lesson.
  • Which payment methods do you accept?
We accept Venmo, PayPal, and Zelle.
  • Do you have a cancellation policy?
Yes, please let us know at least 24 hours before a scheduled lesson if you can’t make it. If you notify us less than 24 hours before the lesson, the full amount will be charged.
  • Do you provide makeup lessons?
Yes! If your child or teacher has to miss a lesson, we’ll find a suitable time for a makeup lesson.
  • Do I need to buy my child an instrument before the first lesson?
Yes! The student needs to have the instrument at home for the lesson. Feel free to ask about recommendations for brands and where to purchase an instrument.
